Chelsea Whitney

Owner and Coach

Chelsea’s love for cheer began as a high school athlete, where she cheered all four years while also competing on an all-star competition team. She continued cheering throughout college, traveling to Florida each year to compete at the NCA College Nationals.

After college, Chelsea spent time coaching youth recreational cheer before stepping away from the sport to take over her family’s picture framing business, get married, and raise her family. Years later, her oldest daughter fell in love with cheer—and Chelsea found herself right back in the sport she had always loved.

Seeing a need for an inclusive cheer program at Benicia Middle School, Chelsea founded BMS Cheer with the belief that every athlete who wanted to be part of a team deserved that opportunity. What began as an idea quickly grew into a thriving program centered around confidence, teamwork, skill development, and a genuine love for cheer.

Chelsea has also expanded into coaching STUNT the Sport with East Bay Club STUNT, continuing to grow her knowledge and experience as a coach.

Now, as a co-founder and coach at Legacy Cheer, Chelsea is excited to create the kind of gym she believes every athlete deserves—a place where kids of all skill levels can feel welcome, work hard, build confidence, and discover just how much they’re capable of.

For Chelsea, Legacy is about so much more than cheerleading. It’s about helping kids find their place, believe in themselves, and leave their own legacy.
